After a few months of experimentation, Softech has released the latest version of DATEX II to offer higher reliability and extensibility of the current service, based on the now outdated protocol Datex1.
Thanks to the VEGA suite, the made in Softech product used for the centralized and integrated management of the motorway radio control room, DATEX II has been successfully installed at Autovie Venete, Brescia-Padova motorway, Brennero motorway and Centro-Padane motorway.
DATEX II, Data Traffic EXchange, was born in the 1990s with the aim of standardizing the communication and exchange of information between traffic management centers through a single protocol, just to ensure a better management of the European road network.
Today DATEX II is part of the European Commission project called EasyWay, which includes 11 states of the European Union.
The main feature of the new standard is the interoperability: DATEX II, with the support of the VEGA suite, responds to the need co-operation between multiple operators to improve the exchange of data and information at national level, between the Italian Concessionaries and the state agencies such as CCISS, but also internationally with foreign organizations, such as ASFINAG and DARS.
Given that today DATEX II allows for any single event the exchange of information and data, the position and the direct transmission of information to the internet websites and other entities, the final goal for the future will be the exchange of information about the availability of heavy parking, the variable message panels and the cameras along the motorway tracks
