The experimental phase of the new Roadside Assistance Service management system, designed and implemented by Softech for the Company Brescia Verona Vicenza Padova S.p.A., is now completed.
This system consists of two separate sub-systems, each with own scope and features:
Installed on all service vehicles, the on board system interfaces with the cental system to allow operators to manage locations, transmission and communication activities. On each multi-touch tablet, COB device provides GPS location services, 3G transmission and Wi-Fi interface to record the vehicle’s position and communicate with the central software via configurable frequency.
The system automatically logs each vehicle’s transit through key points, such as toll booths, such data is automatially recorded in each crew’s daily reports.
Its user interace has been designed for each touch acccess, with large buttons and only a few data field, mostly replaced by scrollable lists to sempliffy user interaction. Where recuired, text and numbers are entered through a popup virtual keyboard.
The system allows crew members to carry out their main duties and taskes, including:
- Abandoned vehicles
- Materials to be removed
- Weather and visibility detection
- Road surface status
- Service vehicles check list
- Daily notes
- Infrastructure control (escarpments, fences, overpasses, noise barriers, guard rails).
Using each tablet’s built in camera, photographs can be taken on the field and sent to the central system in real time.
The central software, named Prime, is an HTML application to manage Roadside Assistance Servicce anagraphic and scheduling data, as well as Service Reports entered by onsite crew members . Each crew can use Prime to review, and edit if necessary, all information recorded on the field before committing the data to the final storage.
Prime provides statistical reporting features and data export into all main data interchange formats
