SUPERSONIC BANG

On Thursday morning, two very strong loud bangs broke the silence throughout Lombardy; to cause the noise, very similar to an explosion, were two F-2000 Eurofighter jets that, in flight to intercept a Boeing 777 of Air France that had lost contact, have break the sound barrier exceeding the speed of 1200 km / h.

Also our acoustic monitoring systems,installed at the Lombard and Piedmontese airports, recorded the“supersonic bang” generated by the two Eurofighter military jets taken off from the Istrana base (TV).

The acoustic profiles of the measurement stations clearly show the “peaks” recorded when the two jets broke the sound wall.
